Marvel teases new Avengers movies, ‘Black Panther’ sequel.

Marvel Studios returns to Comic-Con’s Hall H for the first time in three years with a big reveal and new information about the fifth and sixth phases of the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe.

 

Marvel Studios unveiled the first trailer for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” — set to “No Woman No Cry” — to fans at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday. This is just one part of the big presentation in Hall H, which also includes a first look at “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and new information about Phase 6 in The Marvel Cinematic Universe, which will end with two Avengers movies in 2025: “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” director Ryan Coogler was in San Diego to preview the highly anticipated film, which opens in November. 11 and will serve as the conclusion of the 4th phase. Coogler paid tribute to Chadwick Boseman, who died in August 2020. “The impact he had on the industry will be felt forever,” Coogler said. After the huge success of “Black Panther” in 2018, plans for a sequel were immediately started. But that changed after Boseman’s unexpected death from colon cancer. The studio said it would not reprise Boseman’s role as T’Challa. but not much has come out about the film since then. Production wrapped in March after several delays, one of which was caused by an injury to Letitia Wright, who plays T’Challa’s cerebral sister Shuri. Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett also return, but not Daniel Kaluuya, whose “Nope” schedule is in conflict.

 

Phase 5, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige said, will begin with “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” in February and end with “Thunderbolts” in July 2024. The new “Blade,” starring Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, has also been given a November release date. 3, 2023, and “Captain America and the New World Order,” starring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, will hit theaters on May 3, 2024. “Guardians of the Galaxy” will also end in May in the middle of Phase 5. Director James Gunn appeared in San Diego to confirm that “St. 3″ is the last for the space citizens. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillian and Dave Bautista return to the film. New cast members include Will Poulter as Guardians antagonist Adam Warlock and Maria Bakalova. Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Jonathan Majors and director Peyton Reed traveled to San Diego to see some footage of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” Phase 6 will kick off with the new “Fantastic Four” movie in November. 8, 2024 and will conclude with “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” scheduled for May 2, 2025, followed by “Avengers: Secret Wars” in November. 7, 2025. Marvel also showed trailers for Disney+ series such as “Secret Invasion,” starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, expected in the spring, and the half-hour comedy “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” starring Tatiana Maslany, debuts in August A second season of “Loki” is also expected next summer.
