Patrick Dempsey has gone bald after sporting a platinum blonde hairstyle earlier this year. Known for his curly, dark hair, the 56-year-old actor has abandoned his signature look for a “character role” as Italian race car driver Piero Taruffi in Michael Mann’s upcoming film “Ferrari.”
His wife, Jillian Dempsey, disclosed his newest radical alteration on Instagram in a video showing him using clippers on his own hair. “Change is beneficial. Have you ever had your hair buzzed? Fans of the “Grey’s Anatomy” star, who played Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd on the long-running drama from 2005 to 2015 before returning for a recurring role in season 17 in 2020 and 2021, were taken aback by his new look. “He still manages to look fantastic in every hair style,” one fan said. “This isn’t funny Jill, you had him get rid of his hero hair,” a more worried follower responded.
Patrick stated earlier this year that he had been hard at work on “Ferrari,” which also stars Adam Driver, Penelope Cruz, and Shailene Woodley, and that he had dramatically modified his style for the production back in September.
He chuckled at the idea of dying his hair for a possible role in “Game of Thrones” spin-off “House of the Dragon” at the time, according to Deadline. He stated, “No, I have not done so. I’m currently working on a film about Ferrari that Michael Mann is directing in Italy.”
“I’m having a terrific time, and I get to play a race car driver named Piero Tarfufi, who wins the 1957 Mille Miglia. As a result, it’s a wonderful job.”
